We are fortunate enough to have a full time counselor on staff at the Baraga County Shelter Home. We offer a support group for women victims of domestic violence. The group meets at the shelter every Monday from 6 p.m.- 8 p.m. Group Support offers a safe place to discuss topics such as those listed below in a confidential setting with people who understand what you are going through. Domestic violence men, women, and children Alcohol/drug abuse and the role it plays in domestic violence The effects of domestic violence on children Helping children to cope with the realities of domestic violence Empowerment through information and realization Strength from within Positive parenting Budgeting and planning Group Support offers a helpful environment where victims and family members can seek information and healing. Meetings are open to the public with the understanding that anything that is discussed in a group support meeting is confidential. As no two situations are the same private sessions are also encouraged in order to assist victims through their recovery. Private sessions scheduling or crisis intervention is available 24 hours a day 7 days a week by calling us at (906) 524-7078.
